Senior Beta members need to see Mrs. Southerland in Rm. 4 to check on their Beta points for the year. Any Beta member without 100 points at the end of the year will not be able to wear the Beta stole at graduation.
TSA LAN Party
The next TSA LAN Party is scheduled for Friday, February 19th. Please see Mr. Carson for permission slips. Permission slips are due by Wednesday, February 17th.
TSA Regional Competitions
TSA will be competing in regional competitions at Murray State University on March 6th. Any TSA member wanting to compete needs to see Mr. Carson as soon as possible. The Tech Lab will be open after school every Tuesday and Thursday until 5:00 p.m. for students to prepare for their competitions.
Dodge Ball Fundraiser
Is going to be held on Februray 25th, at 6:00pm at Butler County Middle School.
Cunningham/Durbin Benefit
The date for the benefit has been scheduled for Friday, February 26th.
The Crossmen and Hollow Drive will be performing, and we will have a chili supper along with a silent auction and themed basket auction. We are going to need lots of help to make this as successful as possible for these two families.
If you are willing to help with one or more of the following things, please let me know as soon as possible.
- Bring a crockpot of chili
- Bring individually wrapped baked goods
- Take up money at the door
- Work in concessions
- Be a part of the clean-up crew
- Gather donations to be auctioned
- Donate items such as spoons, crackers, etc.
If your class or club would like to donate a themed basket or if any of the clubs or organizations at BCHS want to help with this that would be great.
Coke Tabs Collection
We are now collecting soft drink can tabs in Raven and Robert’s names. Students can bring can tabs to school in Ziploc bags and turn in to Mrs. Glass in Room 6.
Job Fair
Beech Bend Park is hosting a job fair Friday, February 26th from 2 PM to 7 PM and Saturday, February 27th from 9 AM to 3 PM at the park. Positions available include ride operators, ticketing, food service, lifeguards, maintenance, etc. You must be at least 15-years-old.
GUIDANCE NEWS
ESS
ESS will start Tuesday, Jan. 26th for Upperclassmen Only. Freshmen will NOT be participating in our ESS program in the beginning. We have them on a waiting list and will call them and let them know when we have room for them to participate.
Students in the gifted and talented program need to stop by the guidance office to pick up information.
SENIORS:Stop by the guidance office, the table in the lunchroom, or check on the website to get an updated Scholarship List. Many new listings were added.
Scholarships
REALTOR Association of Southern Kentucky Scholarship: Applicant is to complete an essay tittled, "Why use a Realtor", in their own words. A minimum of 1000 words is required. Winner of the essay contest will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship and the second place winner will be awarded $500 scholarship. For information, get in touch with the guidance office.
DAR Scholarship: The DAR Scholarship application and the Ione Duke Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship application are now available in the guidance office.
Logan Telepohone: Offering competitve scholarships to students whose family has thelephone service through their cooperative. Applications are available in the guidance office.
Ky Farm Bureau: Scholarships are now availible in Guidence office. To be eligible, applicant must have either a minimum 3.5 GPA or a 23 ACT score, and be the child of a Ky farm bureau member.
PTA Scholarship: Any senior planning on majoring in education (teaching) needs to stop by the guidance office to pick up a PTA scholarship application.
Lindsey Wilson or Georgetown Scholarship: Applications deadlines are February 1st.
Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the year Award Program: Awards 25 scholar athletes a $7,500 college scholarship. To find out more, go to bodybymilk.com. Deadline is March 5th.
The BigSun Organization: Offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student athlete.

The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.

Senior Scholarships
Mrs. Rose will have the computer lab in room 7 open for seniors to work on college applications and scholarship applications on Wednesday and Thursday until 4:30.
Tutoring Available
We are offering tutoring to any student at BCHS. We’ve been able to do this with the help of GEAR – Up and Ms. Angie McKinney and with the assistance of our very own Ms. Lisa Rhoades.
Monday: 2:45 to 3:15
Tuesday: 7:15 to 7:45
Thursday: 3:00 to 4:00
National College Fair
Any Student interested in attending the National College Fair in Louisville, stop by the guidance office to get information. It will be Saturday, Feb. 27th from 2-5 pm at Kentucky International Convention Center.
