Silas Arnold was chosen as a representative from Kentucky for the Ambassador's Choir that will travel to Europe in the summer of 2010.

The BCHS Rocket Team finished in 4th Place Nationally

BCHS Rocket Team
Congratulations to the BCHS Rocket Team who competed against the top 100 teams in the nation and won 4th Place at the Team America Rocketry Challenge in The Plains, Virginia. Team members included; John Peckham, Caleb Koostra, Matt Childress, Dakota Phelps, Morgan Shepherd, Michael Gray and Colton Givens.

Lady Bears Fast Pitch Softball
Congrats to the BCHS Lady Bears Fast pitch softball team & coaching staff. Last night @ Edmonson Co. the Lady Bears won by a score of 3-0; but more importantly claimed the following:

Regular season District 12 Champions - 1st in school's history of Fast Pitch Soft Ball (FPSB)
#1 seed for next week's District 12 Tourn - 1st in school's history in FPSB
Back to Back 20 win seasons - 1st in school's history in FPSB
Top 20 State Weekly Rankings ( 5 weeks in row) -1st in school's history in FPSB

Lady Bears
The Lady Bears Fastpitch Softball team is ranked 19th in the State this week!!

Tennis
The 2009 Green River Invitational Tennis Tournament was held the weekend of April 24th and 25th.

The Butler County High School Tennis Teams played well in the tournament against a field of Logan County, Cloverport, and Madisonville-North Hopkins.  The girls team put on their best effort ever, in the tournament's five year history, taking a share of the team title.  The boys team captured it's 2nd team title in three years. 

Audrey Howard/Lexie Smith made their 3rd straight doubles title in the tournament.

Concert Band News
On Saturday, April 25th the BCHS Concert Band traveled to University of Louisville for the State Concertfest Competition.  The students received 1 distinguished and 2 proficient ratings, an excellent performance for this level of competition.   Mr. Ausbrooks is very proud of his band students and would like to thank the parents, faculty and staff for their support of the band program at BCHS and is looking forward to an awesome season in 2009-10.

BCATC NEWS
Congratulations to Justin Hulman and Kyle Massey!!!  They represented the Butler County Tech Center at the Ford AAA state competition in Lexington.  The Ford AAA competition is compiled of two parts.  Four hundred fifty three students took a written exam and the top twenty students are selected to advance to the state level.  The state level competition is a performance portion that requires students to troubleshoot and repair late model vehicles.  Justin and Kyle placed sixth in the state and received tools, bags, and door prizes.  In addition, they received an $8,500.00 scholarship each.  We are very proud of our guys and their accomplishments.  Justin and Kyle plan on attending the Bowling Green Technical College in the fall. 


Congratulations Mr. Allen

We want to congratulate Mr. Allen for being one of six finalists for AD of the Year to be recognized at the state convention.  We should know soon who will be chosen as the AD of the year, but being one of six out of the state which has over 200 Athletic Directors is a wonderful accomplishment for Mr. Allen.  Congratulations and best of luck in being named the AD of the Year!  Thank you for all that you do!

BCHS Track team traveled to Barren County Thursday afternoon.

Congratulations Choir
The Butler County High School Chamber Choir performed at the The Gaylord Music Festival in Nashville this weekend. The festival hosted 24 choirs from schools from all over the USA. The choir won first place in the chamber singer madrigal division and ranked 2nd overall in the festival. We will be having a spring concert some time soon and a Big Blue Review to showcase our very talented students.

Congratulations Bears Fast-pitch Softball Team
The BCHS Bears Softball Team celebrates their championship at the Marshall County Slugfest

Butler Co. HS Lady Bears Softball this week comes in @ #22 in the state; breaking into the Top 25 for the first time in BCHS Girls softball history.  Note* (154) schools play fast-pitch softball.

BCHS Lady Bears received (70) votes; ** special note this weeks #1 team in the state is Lou. Ballard HS; who BCHS played during Spring Break while in Alabama. The final score was only Ballard 1-0 over BCHS in extra innings. This has all the makings of a special season, good luck to the Lady Bears & staff, and keep it going.

Congrats to the BCHS Lady Bears who over the weekend were crowned @ 1am Sunday morning the Marshall Co. Slugfest Champions. The Lady Bears on Saturday began around noon in game one; winning five throughout the day; with the Title game @ midnight.  This was a (16) team tournament, involving teams from Tenn., Ky. and Illinois. Congrats to the entire Lady bears and coaching staff on your work.

Congratulations to Dillon Bryant – He was chosen as Barren River Region Star Farmer.  He will compete for state Star Farmer in June.

Congratulations to Dillon Bryant.  He was named a finalist for Barren River Region Star Farmer.  He will interview on Tuesday to determine if he moves on to state.  Dillon also won the Beef Entrepreneurship Proficiency.

Congratulations to Haley Burden, who was elected President of the Kentucky Technology Student Association for the 2009-2010 School year.  She will represent Butler County and the state of Kentucky at the National TSA Convention in Denver, CO June 28th-July 2nd. 

Haley also placed 1st in Imaging Technology

Congratulations Bears
The BCHS Bears Football Team defeated Muhlenberg South Friday night 35 -17 and finished the regular season with a record of 9 - 1. The Bears advance to the Class 3A KHSAA State Playoffs this Friday night at home against this same Muhlenberg South team. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and General Admission is $6:00. Come out and support the Bears as they continue to advance in the playoffs

Congratulations BCHS Cross Country
Butler Co. Boys qualified for the State Meet this weekend in Lexington. They become the 6th Butler Co. boy’s team to qualify for the state meet. Team finished fifth overall in the meet.

Jordan Green wins the Individual Class 2A Regional Championship in 17:35 - First Butler Co. runner to win a individual championship.

Wendy Heisman Selections
Congratulation goes out to Jordan Green and Hope Curry for being selected as the BCHS Wendy Heisman. They will now move on to the state level for competition.

Band
The Butler County Marching Band qualified for state competition by placing 8th at the KMEA West regional Saturday night.  They missed 7th by only one hundredths of a point and 6th place by only ½ point.  They will compete this Saturday morning at 10:30 CST at Pleasure Ridge Park in Louisville.  Good Luck to the Band, Mr. Ausbrooks, Mrs. Wells and the staff. Congratulations Chorus
Last Thursday night 12 choir students auditioned for the KMEA All-State Chorus. All 12 students received distinguished ratings and were recommended to the chorus by the third district. Students that participated were: Kate Barrow, Laura Basham, Sara Burden, Tiffany Anderson, Audrey Howard, Molly Embry, Sarah Meredith, Silas Arnold, Eli Embry, Cory Bratcher, Justin Wallace, Jonathan Curtis. Kate, Eli, Jon, Tiffany, Molly, Audrey, and Silas scored 90 or better in the audition. Silas Arnold had the 2nd highest score in his voice part in the third district. The chorus will be chosen in November and members will perform at The Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville in February. Thank you to the parents and staff of our county for encouraging the arts. (10-24-08)
